UAS – Operator Course

March 9 - March 13

UAS Operator Course

1-day, in-person, instructor led course in Huntsville, Alabama.

The UAS Operator Course prepares public safety professionals and first responders for real-world multirotor UAS operations. This foundational program establishes the baseline knowledge and operational framework necessary for emergency response missions that align with FAA regulatory requirements, NIST proficiency standards, and FEMA disaster response protocols. Successful completion of this course lays the groundwork for earning the nationally recognized ASSUREd Safe UAS Operator Credential.

This intensive, five‑day (40‑hour) hands‑on course provides scenario‑based training in UAS operations and includes 10 hours of individual flight time per student. Enrollment is limited to nine students, each of whom must hold a current 14 CFR Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate. The course maintains a 3:1 student‑to‑instructor ratio, enabling effective crew‑based training (Pilot in Command, Visual Observer, Crew Member) and ensuring enhanced interaction and individualized instruction for every participant.

Course Highlights:

  • Alignment with FEMA and NIST standards
  • Hands-on operational focus
  • Risk management and compliance support
  • Regulatory and Standards Alignment

Explicit compliance with:

  • FAA regulations (Part 107, risk management, awareness, planning and safety protocols)
  • FEMA operational guidance (ICS integration, response protocols)
  • NIST Test Methods and UAS operational proficiency standards (objective metrics for operators)

The ASSUREd Safe UAS Operator course is currently offered as part of a Sponsored Training Program, supported through federal funding to expand access to high-quality UAS and autonomy instruction for first responders and public safety agencies. During this sponsored period, ASSURED safe will be offering a limited number of deliveries that participants may enroll in at no cost. Once the funding phase concludes, the program will transition to a standard tuition-based model to ensure continued delivery and support of these critical training opportunities.
